Guides / Check my PC
Health Check
Checks the things that usually go wrong: drive health, errors, Windows updates, damaged Windows files, antivirus and the firewall. It changes nothing.
When to use it
- Your PC feels off and you do not know where to start.
- Before you hand a PC to someone, or after a big change.
- Once in a while, as a check up.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix. Home shows the Check my PC button.
- Choose Check my PC. It takes about a minute.
- Read the four result cards: Space, Speed, Problems and Protection. Each says All good, Worth a look, or Needs attention.
- Open a card to see the items, then choose Fix the safe items or open a single tool.
What it changes
Nothing. The check only reads.
What it never does
- It never counts one problem many times to look alarming.
- It never asks you to pay to fix what it finds.
Undo
Nothing to undo. The check changes nothing.
Advanced details
- Reads drive health (SMART and NVMe), Security Center, firewall profiles and Windows Update history through WMI and CIM.
- Runs DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth to see whether Windows itself is damaged. This only reads.
- Counts real items only: one card per area, never one issue per file.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
