Our rules
What Brightfix never does.
PC tools have earned a bad name with fake scans and scare tactics. These are the rules Brightfix follows on every PC, written into the app itself.
- Never: Delete or move your filesDocuments, photos, downloads and OneDrive are off limits. It only clears caches and temporary files Windows rebuilds.
- Never: Change anything without showing you firstEvery tool previews exactly what it will do. Nothing runs until you say so.
- Never: Skip the safety netA System Restore point comes first, settings are backed up, and History and undo can put changes back.
- Never: Scare you into payingNo fake issue counts, no red alarms for normal things, no countdowns. The free version fixes what it finds.
- Never: Collect or sell your dataNo telemetry, no ads, no account. Licenses are checked on your PC.
- Never: Turn off your protectionWindows Update, Microsoft Defender, the firewall and User Account Control are never switched off.
- Never: Sell snake oilNo registry cleaner, no RAM booster, no drivers from random websites. Drivers and firmware come only from Windows Update or your PC maker’s own tool, and never install on their own.
- Never: Call you or connect remotelyBrightfix never calls, and nobody from Brightfix will ask to connect to your PC. If someone does, it is a scam.
How we measure
Brightfix only reports what it can show you on your own PC.
- Space is the real size of the files that would be cleared, counted before and after.
- Startup is the number of programs that start with Windows, before and after, with the source of each suggestion.
- Health counts real findings, one per problem, never one per file. Normal things are never shown in red.
- Speed claims are only ever measured numbers for your PC, such as boot time before and after. We do not promise a percentage.
What the free edition promises
Anything the free edition finds, it can fix for free, or it clearly says it is information only. Paid editions add automation, alerts and shop tools. They never hold a fix hostage.
