Guides / Speed up
Memory and Devices
Checks your memory, screens, printers, drives and other devices for real problems and explains what it finds.
When to use it
- A device stopped working, like a scanner, Wi-Fi or sound.
- Your screen looks less smooth than it should.
- You added memory and want to know it is running right.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Speed up.
- Choose Memory and Devices.
- Read each card. A device with a problem shows what Windows reports about it.
- If a device needs a driver, choose Look for a driver to open Driver and firmware updates.
What it changes
Nothing by itself. Fixes are your choice and open the right tool.
What it never does
- Never "frees" memory. RAM boosters do nothing useful.
- Never installs drivers by itself.
Undo
Nothing to undo.
Advanced details
- Reads Win32_PhysicalMemory, device status codes from Win32_PnPEntity, display modes and printer state.
- A screen set below its best refresh rate is reported with the rate it supports.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
