Startup Programs
Lists the programs that start with Windows and suggests which ones can be off, with a reason for each. One button turns off the suggestions.
When to use it
- Your PC takes a long time to be ready after you sign in.
- You see programs in the corner you never use.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Speed up.
- Choose Startup Programs.
- Read the suggestions and the reason given for each.
- Choose Turn off the suggestions, or switch single programs off yourself.
What it changes
Turns programs off from starting with Windows, using the same switch as Task Manager. The programs stay installed.
What it never does
- Never turns off your antivirus or Windows security.
- Never uninstalls anything.
Undo
Every change can be undone from History and undo, which puts the exact previous setting back.
Advanced details
- Uses the StartupApproved flags, the switch Task Manager uses. The Run key values themselves are left untouched.
- The registry key is backed up before every change.
- Suggestions come from a list of sourced rules about common startup programs.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
