Set Up Apps
Installs common free programs you pick from a short list, and can remove trial apps that came with the PC. Nothing is ticked until you choose.
When to use it
- You just got a new PC.
- You want to remove trial apps the PC maker added.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Speed up.
- Choose Set Up Apps.
- Tick the programs to install, or the trial apps to remove.
- Go ahead. Removals ask a second time.
What it changes
Installs the programs you ticked from the Windows Package Manager. Removes only apps on Brightfix's own list of trial apps.
What it never does
- Never removes the Microsoft Store, App Installer or anything Windows needs.
- Never removes an app that is not on its list.
Undo
An installed program can be uninstalled from Windows Settings. A removed app can usually be installed again from the Microsoft Store. A restore point is made first.
Advanced details
- Installs with winget install --exact --source winget, verifying each installer's hash.
- Each removal is High risk and needs the second confirmation.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
