Scam Shield

Looks for what tech support scams leave behind: remote access programs, risky browser extensions, and websites allowed to pop up alerts. It explains each one. You decide what to remove.

When to use it

  • Someone called or a pop up told you your PC is infected and asked to connect.
  • You let someone connect to your PC and want to check what they left.

How to use it

  1. Open Brightfix and go to Protect.
  2. Choose Scam Shield. Brightfix checks first and changes nothing yet.
  3. Read the list. Each item says what it is and what will happen.
  4. Tick what you want, then choose the button to go ahead.

What it changes

Nothing by itself. It shows what it found and how to remove it.

What it never does

  • Brightfix never calls you and never asks to connect to your PC.

Undo

Nothing to undo.

Advanced details
  • Looks for installed, running or auto starting remote access programs, browser extensions with risky permissions, and sites allowed to send notifications.

Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
