Security Sweep
Checks that the things protecting this computer are actually switched on: antivirus, the firewall, and the warnings Windows shows before running something risky.
When to use it
- You are not sure your protection is on.
- After something unexpected happened, like a pop up you did not expect.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Protect.
- Choose Security Sweep. Brightfix checks first and changes nothing yet.
- Read the list. Each item says what it is and what will happen.
- Tick what you want, then choose the button to go ahead.
What it changes
Only if you choose: switches back on protection that is off.
What it never does
- Never turns protection off.
- Works alongside the antivirus you have.
Undo
Settings it switches on can be switched off again in Windows Security. A restore point is made first.
Advanced details
- Reads Security Center, Microsoft Defender status and the firewall profiles.
- When another antivirus is in charge, Brightfix takes that into account instead of reporting Defender as off.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
