Internet not working
Checks how this PC connects to the internet and offers the standard fixes, gentlest first.
When to use it
- Websites will not load but other devices on the same Wi-Fi work.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Fix a problem.
- Choose The internet is not working.
- Try the gentle fixes first: clear the DNS cache, renew the network address, reset the proxy.
- Use the full reset only when nothing else works. It asks a second time and needs a restart.
What it changes
Clears the DNS cache, renews the network address, resets the proxy, and as a last step resets network settings.
What it never does
- Never changes your router.
Undo
The gentle fixes need no undo. A full network reset cannot be undone, and you may need to join your Wi-Fi again afterwards. A restore point is made first.
Advanced details
- Uses ipconfig /flushdns and /renew, and the Windows network stack reset for the full reset.
- The full reset needs a restart to finish. Brightfix never restarts by itself.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
