Windows acting strange
Checks Windows' own files for damage and repairs anything it finds. Your files and settings are not touched.
When to use it
- Windows shows odd errors, or built in apps crash.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Fix a problem.
- Choose Windows is acting strange or showing errors.
- Start it when you can leave the PC alone. It often takes half an hour.
- Read the result. Brightfix only says something was fixed when Windows confirmed it.
What it changes
Replaces damaged Windows system files with good copies.
What it never does
- Your files and settings are not touched.
Undo
Repaired files are Windows' own correct versions. A restore point is made first.
Advanced details
- Runs DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, then sfc /scannow, and reports their actual results.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
