Printer stuck or icons wrong
Two quick fixes: clear a stuck print queue, and rebuild the icon cache when icons go blank or show the wrong picture. Both take a few seconds.
When to use it
- Something is stuck in the print queue and nothing prints.
- Icons are blank or show the wrong picture.
How to use it
- Open Brightfix and go to Fix a problem.
- Choose My printer is stuck, or Icons are blank or wrong.
- Read what will happen, then go ahead.
What it changes
Clears waiting print jobs and restarts the print service, or rebuilds the icon cache.
What it never does
- Never removes printers or printer drivers.
Undo
Cleared print jobs need to be printed again. The icon cache rebuilds itself.
Advanced details
- The print fix stops the Print Spooler service, clears its queue folder and starts it again.
Every action is logged with the time, the command, the result and the exit code.
